The Isle of Man Branch executive aims to promote
good health, safety and welfare practice on the Isle of Man. Our
primary aim is to always provide a quality service to our
membership.
Who are we?
Chairman: Tony Quayle MBA CMIOSH

Tony is the Health and Safety Manager for
Manx Telecom Limited. He has been involved in the
telecommunications industry for over 35 years and was previously
employed in the motor industry. Tony also sits on the Isle of Man
Government "Event Safety Advisory Group" He is "Event Safety
Officer" for Manx Auto Sport Limited. Tony's hobbies
include walking, DIY and watching motor sports including
F1, Moto GP and Rallying.
Vice Chairman: Stan
Yellop BA, MSc, CFIOSH, Chartered FCIPD, FITOL, RMaPS Chartered
Safety and Health Practitioner

Stan has had 20 years' experience in various
health and safety roles. His competence and capabilities have been
developed while engaged in health and safety management roles for
two major UK national construction companies and as a self-employed
consultant with a diverse client portfolio. He is the managing
director of Safety Management Services (IoM) Limited, an Isle of
Man consultancy practice.
Stan was instrumental in setting up
the Isle of Man Branch. He has been awarded the IOSH
President’s Distinguished Service Certificate and is currently a
member of the Institution’s Council of Management and sub-committee
for Initial Professional Development.

Treasurer: Peter
Quirk MSc, MSoc Sci CMIOSH

Peter is Group HSSE Manager for Manx Petroleum
and also manages the ‘into plane’ operation at Ronaldsway (Isle of
Man) Airport for Shell Aviation. A member of IOSH since 2005,
Peter has 32 years experience in the oil industry, starting out as
a junior clerk, and progressing through the ranks from a tanker
delivery driver, into various management roles to his current dual
role responsibility. Peter is currently Chairman of the Isle of Man
Chamber of Commerce Transport Committee, and represents the oil
sector on the Isle of Man Government Resilience Group Committee. He
is a staunch supporter of Stockport County FC, and Sale Sharks RUFC
and is actively engaged with The University of Leicester Alumni
support programmes including student mentoring and hardship
initiatives for current and future students on and off the
Leicester campus.
Executive Member: Nick Dernie
CMIOSH MCIOB CEnv RMAPS
Nick is a
safety practitioner and building consultant with over 25
years' experience in construction risk management,
diversifying into consultancy work on the Island over five years
ago. His hobbies include reading, walking and travelling.
Executive Member: Bob Brown
CMIOSH RMAPS
Bob is the Health and
Safety Manager for Auldyn Construction. He previously held the
position of Senior Health Inspector (Construction) in the
Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate. He has been involved
in the construction industry for over 30 years. He is a keen
motorcyclist and sailor.

Howard Tech IOSH

Health & Safety Advisor at Dandara
Construction
Grant is trained and qualified as an Production/Manufacturing
Engineer and latterly as a Safety Practitioner. He is a Senior
Technical Official for the TT, MGP, S100 and Chief for Manx 2 Day
Trial and IOM round of the British Trials Championship.
Executive Member: Steve Dempsey Grad
IOSH
Steve has a career in the
construction industry spanning some 35 years to date. During
this period Steve has held various positions progressing through
the years.
Apprentice Joiner, Joiner, Site foreman, Site
Manager, Planner, Contract manager, Health and safety
Coordinator, Company Director
Involved in the planning and construction of
many notable projects on the island [leaving his mark]. Steve is a
well respected individual within the industry both professionally
and within the industry trades.
He is currently Chairman of the Chartered
Institute of Building [CIOB] on his second year in office. Also a
committee member of the CIOB North West Branch. Recently elected on
to the executive committee of the IOSH Isle of Man branch
Member of the Association of Project
management.

Amanda Fairbairn Tech IOSH

Environment Health and Safety Leader at GE
Aviation Systems Iloman Ltd.
Tolis worked in machine tool manufacturing and
aerospace as a qualified Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer since
1996. He moved to EHS in 2007 and is currently working on his Level
4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practise. Tolis likes
gardening, walking and computers.
