Our strategy
Following a review of its 2005-2012
strategic vision, IOSH identified seven strategic priorities which
should underpin the work we do during the period from now
until 2012.
These were:
- raising the profile of health and safety and the influence of
IOSH
- increasing membership
- developing internationally
- leading occupational safety and health thought
- growing financial security in an ethical and sustainable
way
- developing people
- managing the Institution efficiently and effectively.
At the South Downs Branch, we've been looking at how we might most
effectively run the branch in order to achieve these objectives. As
a result of a recent review, we've restructured the management
committee in order to allow us to focus on these priorities.
We have to have the four main officer positions on the
committee, namely Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer
and Secretary. But beyond this, how we operate the branch
is up to us.
Following a review earlier this year, the committee has adopted
a team approach to cover the various aspects of the branch's
activities. The following teams have been created:
Each of these teams has a webpage setting out what it does,
why, and what sorts of activities it's
organising to make sure that at branch level, we're
supporting IOSH's strategic vision.
We believe that these changes will help us become better at
communicating and providing information and will allow us to
arrange high quality events, providing our members with interesting
and valuable content. This will help everyone to
become more knowledgeable and enable us to improve the overall
experience of being a member of IOSH in the South Downs Branch.
